Strawberry Pop Heart Recipe

Dough Instructions
  1. In large mixing bowl mix flour sugar and salt together
  2. Add butter and mix until the chunks are medium and small pieces
  3. Slowly add the cold water until the dough comes together (you may need to add more cold water)
  4. Transfer dough to floured surface and split into two flattened disks
  5. Wrap with saran wrap and refrigerate for 2-4 hours or overnight
Jam Instructions
  1. Wash strawberries and cut the ends off them
  2. Cut into quarters and add to medium saucepan with sugar lemon zest and juice
  3. Cook for 10-15 min or until it thickens
  4. Place jam in fridge for 20-30 minutes
Pop Heart Assembly
  1. Pre heat oven to 375
  2. Once dough is rested roll out both disks to 1/8-inch thickness and cut out rectangles or whatever cookie cutter you may have at home
  3. Spoon 1-2 tsp of cream cheese depending on the size you choose for your pop tart and spread out leaving one inch around the sides plain
  4. Spoon 1-2 tsp of jam on top of the cream cheese
  5. Using egg wash, brush around the sides and place the top on each one and with a fork pierce the sides together to keep it from coming apart
  6. Line baking sheet with parchment and place pop tarts on top
  7. Brush the pop tarts with egg wash and prick air holes on the top surface
  8. Bake the pop tarts for 20-25 minutes at 375 while rotating them halfway through
  9. They will be done when they have a nice golden-brown color
  10. Remove from oven and transfer to cooling rack
  11. Once cooled off you can add a glaze on top or just eat them as is
  12. For the glaze add the jam and powdered sugar into mixing bowl and mix on medium high speed until it has a nice thick consistency you may need to add a little milk to get the right texture
  13. Drizzle glaze over pop tarts and enjoy!
