Garlic Dill Pickles
Ingredients
Ingredients for Pickling Spice
- 2 tablespoons Black Peppercorns
- 2 tablespoons Mustard Seeds
- 2 tablespoons Coriander Seeds
- 2 tablespoons Dill Seed
- 1 tablespoon Allspice Berries
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Ingredients for Pickles
- 10-12 lbs Pickling Cucumbers Cut vertically into stripes
- 2 cups Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 cups White Vinegar
- 4 cups Water
- 5 tablespoons Pickling salt
- Dried dill weed 2-3 stalks per jar
- 20-30 Whole Garlic Cloves, peeled and lightly smashed 4-5 per jar
- Homemade pickling spice from above ingredients
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients from for the pickling spice in a bowl and set aside
- Sterilize the pickling jars before adding ingredients
- Add 2-3 tablespoons of pickling spice, 2-3 stalks of dried dill week and 4-5 whole garlic cloves to each jar. Pack the sliced cucumbers into the jars tightly
- Mix apple cider vinegar, white vinegar and water together to make a brine
- Pour the brine into the jars, make sure cucumbers are covered
- Let full jars soak in boiling water for 10 minutes
- After soaking, store in a dry cool place. Pickles will be ready in 7-10 days. They can be stored for up to 1 year
Notes
If you want to make these refrigerator pickles, skip boiling water soak and place pickles directly into the refrigerator.
